How to sell yourself better…

Everyone knows that before you can sell your ideas, products, or services, you have to sell yourself.
The question is: How do you do that best? To sell yourself is largely a matter of getting other people to like you. If they like you, people will do all kinds of things for you. The advantage is tremendous.
They will accept your ideas, buy your products, and follow your lead. However, if they don’t like you, they will go out of their way to avoid you.
What is that makes people like you? That is a tough question.
Ask a dozen people and you will probably get a dozen of different answers. About the only common link is that most of them will say a pleasant personality is the key. In selling yourself, then, begin by showing others you are a pleasant person. To do so, here are five guidelines that will help:

1. Don’t boast about yourself or your achievements. Instead, focus on other people and their accomplishments. Let them have the spotlight. Since most people love to talk about themselves they will admire you for listening.
2. Look for something good in everyone you meet. When you find it, comment on it. Sincere compliments are always welcome.
3. Be considerate of everyone no matter who they are. How you treat others, especially those who don’t seem to count much, says much about what kind of person you are.
4. Smile often. A smile radiates happiness. Smiles are also contagious. The more you smile, the more everyone else smiles too.
5. Don’t volunteer your opinions, especially on sensitive issues. You will avoid many arguments and you will actually find it much easier to convince others of your point-of-view
